Wearing the same comfortable cotton shirt for 10 years and so damn proud about it. Our culture has always held sustainably deep within. We always drank दूध- हळद ages before ‘Turmeric Latte’ was a thing. All of us have seen our grandparents’ generations owning limited pair of clothing, one for outdoor, one for indoors & maybe another for office-wears. Shopping was done only on birthdays & Diwali. We have always seen them sewing & repairing the tears of clothings & footwear. We can’t compare it with our life today but my heart still cries while looking at the steady growth of fast-fashion & the landfills of waste.
Sustainability is a lifestyle and not a mere collection of fancy hashtags, marketing campaigns & cardboard packaging. I’m not built for competing with the ‘trends’ but I count how old my clothes are and feel satisfied & happy from within. Should I call this my ‘strength’ or ‘weakness’ ?
Do you still wear anything from 10+ years ago ?
