I recently revamped my official website and during the website design and production process, I went through all the blogs that I had written in the past years. I had almost forgotten that I love so much to write. To put ideas into words. To experience a small waterfall of thoughts going form the mind to the keyboard and look at it while it creates a beautiful picture. Even it no-one looks at the picture, it makes me feel a sense of satisfaction, that it passed through so many cells of my mind and body.
I know that we should ‘go with the flow’ and ‘when in Rome, do as Romans do’. But the pace with which things move these days is unreliably high. Social media platforms started as a way to connect with people and to share ideas. It took less than a few years for it to turn into a competition of likes, views and followers. I joined Instagram because I loved to click photographs and it was meant to be a photos-sharing platform. Suddenly few years later, here I am : designing high paced, voice over-ed, layered complex reels and making all of this under 90 secs. Why? Because the platform told me that unless I do all of this, it won’t show my content to my followers. As a means for my work to reach maximum people, I am left with no option but to comply with all the insanity in the name of ‘technology and growth’.
Did I ask for all this? Absolutely not. But if I do not ‘ Go with the flow’, I might be left behind in this so-called race that none of us know the destination of. In this entire journey of creating and consuming so much content daily, I realised, some things are still in my hand, just that I had forgotten about it. Just like writing this blog. Now, writing is associated with ChatGpt, but the feeling of exhaustion of reading all those chatgpt posts is growing too. Other than the overuse of Em Dash , what makes reading Chatgpt-writing weary, is the over-perfection. We are humans. Making errors is what differentiates all of us. In this entire AI-writing pandemic, what I realised is that how easy it is to make out when a person genuinely writes something out of his own thoughts and mind. Even in the typed, digital format, we can sense the little human touch to a paragraph. Isn’t it magical?
To be able to differentiate between bots and humans writing things, the first step for humans is to keep on writing, so we have at least have something to begin with. So taking this opportunity to remind myself, even if the world is moving fast on a mega-expressway and I want to be with it, I still have the option to slow down a bit and look at little flowers on the dirt road and click a pic or two . To share a few words on how refreshing it felt. To put my thoughts into words. So these blogs will be there to remind me a couple of years later, what purity felt like 🙂
