I keep reading a lot on “Why One Should Travel” and “What Travel gives you which nothing can” and all other typical blog-gy material frequently. In fact that is closest that I can get to travelling when I am not travelling. I was always attracted to travel since childhood and now it has a prominent place in my list of #lifegoals
Travelling as a trend has picked up pace since the past couple of years; thanks to the internet, easy booking of travel & accommodation and specially social media. Blogs and viral stories have been a fuel to the travelling fire sensation. Bollywood makes the wish-list even more bigger. Destinations are known by the movies made there and prove to be crowd pullers. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara will always be remembered for Spain, PK for Bruges, Tamasha for Corsica, Dil Dhadakne Do for Turkey, Queen for a backpacking trip to Europe and the list will go on.
Have tried to list our reasons for loving travel.
1. Life is about experiences.
I believe this fact to the core. Life is always about choices as you can’t have it all.
I would rather book a flight ticket from my savings rather than buy a new dress for myself because for me, life is about all the experiences that touch you from within. What kind experiences move you depend upon what kind of person you are. I have always been interested to see new places, know about new cultures, history and explore the nature around, travelling has always excited me. Visiting one place has inspired me to visit another and the cycle will go on.
2. There is more to see than you can imagine.
There is so much our there on this beautiful earth that you can visit and see. I read a very interesting line once “Manzil Milegi Bhatak kar hi sahi, Gumrah to woh hai jo ghar se nikle hi nahi” (Destination can be found sometimes even if you just wander, Those who never get out of their homes are already lost)
If one does not go out from one’s circle, he will never understand where he really stands. Dating back to the old literature, the person who has travelled a lot is considered wise, because he is believed to have had a lot of experiences which makes him wise. For a nature loving person there is so much to see and experience from the highlands to the beaches, from the caves to the backwaters, from historic places to vibrant markets. There are abundant places to see around the world and a lifetime will not be sufficient.
3. Memory creating factory.
For me, travel has always been a memory creating factory. Photographs are synonym to travel and they are a means to treasure all the experiences. Even today when I see my photo album in the same trail I can revisit my trip and be happy again. I use this as an energy booster in my low times. So in addition to the happiness in the present while travelling, for me, it also creates some future happiness pockets.
4. Something to look forward to.
Back from a super awesome trip and soon after the trip hangover drains, there I am searching where to go next. Having an unending wish-list of places to visit, travel always gives me something to look forward to. I can finish all my lesser favourite daily chores with less trauma when I know I am going to an awesome place soon ! Acche Din Aayenge !
5. Changed person.
I am a changed person each time after I return from a new place. We travel not because we need to, but because distance and distinctness are the secret revivers of creativity. When we get home, home is still the same. But something in our mind has changed, and that changes everything. This suits best for a person like me who hates stagnancy. I feel travel makes you realise that you just are a small dot on this immense earth. People do super awesome things in their lives and have problems bigger than yours. Travel makes you humble.
If Travelling was free, you would never see me again !
